Check Security Of Your Device

In these days of increasing privacy threats and regular NEWS of data leaks it has became almost mandatory to keep our self secure, but many times we are betrayed by those whom we depend on to be safe like VPNs and Anti-Virus , but the world is not perfect and things might not go the way you want them to , so today I came up with tricks and tips you should do, at-least once in a while to keep your guards in check.

You must have installed VPN (Virtual Private Network) and Security Software like Anti-Virus on your computers, tablets or your smartphones . If you want these software to protect your computer and devices then you must take care of these services in return . Like this you can keep your device fit and secure.
Below are a few steps which can help you do so:

  • Update your Anti-Virus: Open your Database and check if there are any update messages or not . If you don't see any update message then check all your security products (VPN , Anti-Virus etc.) manually and update them . Beside your awareness this is the only way to protect your devices from hackers and malware.
  • Test your Anti-Virus: Now that you have updated your Anti-Virus this is the best time to test if it works properly . To check the protection of your device visit and check security features of your Anti-Virus from the website of Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organisation(AMTSO). Here you can verify features of your Anti-Virus software on Android and PC. Here download and run different tests. These test check various aspects of Malware Protection.
  • Verify your VPN:  VPN (Virtual Private Network) secures your private network by encrypting it. Verifyng your VPN is a very simple task and it helps to check if there is a LEAK in your network . THere are two ways to do so :-(1)Switch your VPN 'OFF' and search 'what is my IP' or 'what is my location' on your preferred web browser note the IP address and location . Now turn your VPN 'ON' and repeat the same , when you check the results note that at least all the IP addresses are different, if not then CHANGE YOUR VPN .(2)To do a more detailed check visit DNS leak test and do a 'Extended Test' . Refresh and switch your VPN ON and OFF by your convenience . Below is a screen-snip of the extended test I did and my location was not found on the list ensuring no DNS or VPN leak.
